In a very high standard of u/11 cricket the Upper Beac White had to battle hard against Emerald who bowled extremely well. It was very difficult to score runs against the excellent bowling, however, Ryley Pentland and Jack Kiker both top scored with 7 runs with Billy Gerrard-Kett and Josh Daniels also doing well with 6 runs each. The Emerald bowlers were fantastic, however, some of their catching was absolutely brilliant and they set the standard high in the first 20 overs.

After watching the very impressive Emerald side the Upper Beac Whites were inspired and they put in their best bowling and fielding performance of the season. Ryley Pentland managed 2/1, with Jack Kiker 2/6 and Josh Daniel 2/6 the other multiple wicket-takers. Sinclair Laird also bowled brilliantly with the Emerald batsmen unable to score any runs from his 2 overs. The highlight of the match, however, was the excellent fielding of the Upper Beac side. They had been working on backing up throws and their catching and they did both extremely well. Billy Gerrard-Kett was fantastic with the gloves, whilst Sinclair Laird also took 2 great catches.

It was a great game of cricket with both sides performing very well.

Magnificent Century by Lachy Harrison

Premier Division

Upper Beaconsfield travelled down the hill to take on traditional rivals Beaconsfield in the battle of the Little Ashes.

After being asked to take to field by Tigers' skipper Justin Stanton, the Maroons struggled throughout the day as the Beaconsfield batsmen piled on the runs.

Unfortunately for the Maroons, some solid bowling performances weren't backed up by the fielders as several catches went down throughout the afternoon.

Daniel Brennan bowled superbly taking 2/50 from 16 overs, while skipper Scott Pitcher also toiled hard for his side to take 1/81 from 23 overs.

New recruit Ben Henderson was impressive during his seven over opening spell with two catches being dropped as he went on to take 0/21 from seven overs.

All credit must go to the Tigers' batsmen who did a superb job to bring up 6/306 from their 80 overs.

The Maroons will need to be at their best next week to chase down the total, however, if they can bat out their overs, the score is certainly not out of reach.

B Grade

Upper Beaconsfield compiled a handy 9/201 playing at Lakeside. Nicky Fabien and Luke Duffy opened the batting and Nick was the first man out making 26. Xavier Gargan top scored with 47. Luke Duffy showed patience compiling 37 and Brendan Hennessy continued his good form with the bat to finish the day on 31 not out.

E Grade

Merinda Park sent Upper Beaconsfield into bat on the slow Lyndhurst Secondary College Ground. Upper Beaconsfield lost the first wicket with the score on 19.

When 14 year old Lachlan Harrison strode to the crease batting at number 3, the game changed.

Lachlan Henstock and Lachlan Harrison put on 86, before Lachlan Henstock fell for a well made 30. Lachlan Harrison at this time was 49 not out and was joined by Craig Haw in his first game for the club. These two put on a massive 147 run partnership.

Lachlan Harrison displayed powerful hitting with elegant placement to bring up his maiden century. He continued on before finally being dismissed on 129, which included 13 boundaries. This makes Lachlan one of the youngest centurions at Upper Beaconsfield.

Craig Haw made a stylish 89 and Rob Naismith finished with 26 not out. Upper Beaconsfield making 6/324.

G Grade

The new look G grade side batted first and at the close of the innings made 8/134. Shane Gittens top scored with 40. Su Le made 23 and the reliable Stuart Black finished with 17.

Devon Meadows passed the score 7 wickets down. The wickets were shared around by the maroon bowlers with the Gittens brothers, Su Le, Jason Southgate and Dean Olsson each getting one wicket . Stuart Black finished a solid day with 2 wickets.

Under 15

Chasing the Beaconsfield Tigers 6/162 was always going to be tough. The young side did value their wickets and only lost 4. Alex Merry made a fine 35 not out. Lachlan Harrison made 28 and Brett Hamilton made 15 not out.. The maroons made 4/118

Under 13 (White)

Making 102 last week against the Yabbies and having them one wicket down the Under 13 whites were unable penetrate the middle order. Sam McDavitt, Kyle Bliss, Michael Jennings each picked up one wicket. Cody Stickley picked up his first wicket for the club and was the only bowler to bowl a maiden over. Well Done.

The boys batted for another 6 overs and Jaxon Dooley followed on form his 30 not out last week to end up on 6 not out.

Under 13 (Maroon)

Having been set 107 by Officer the Upper Beaconsfield maroons reeled in the score 5 wickets down. Finishing the evening 8/162. At the top of the order Nathan Mete made 18. Chad McDonald made 16 all in boundaries. Trent Archer(20) and Andrew McDonald also batted well. Corey Joyce made a fantastic 33 retired batting at number seven.

Under 11 (Maroon)

Captain Jock Wright-Smith won the toss and elected to bowl Will Morgan and Daniel both bowled well each picking up a wicket and Jarrod Butler threw down the stumps to get a run out. Jarrod also bowled well and was unlucky not to get a wicket. Over all the bowling was much improved with wides and no-balls well down.

Darcy Haw and Lachlan Jones batted well putting on an 11 run partnership.

Thanks to Sharna and Riley PERKINS for filling in at the last minute and the parents Kyla, Craig and Russell for helping out.
