UBCC 2015/2016 Club Social Events
The club will be holding some great events this season! Please put these in your diary!
Maroons to Recognise Our Twin Premierships of Thirty Years Ago
In 1984 and 1985 Essendon won back to back premierships in the AFL. However they were not the only club in Australia to perform that feat. Upper Beaconsfield Cricket
Club won two premierships in 1985 /86 – one of which was a back to back celebration for the first eleven which recorded successive flags in the first two years since
the club’s re-formation.
In B grade the Maroons completely outplayed Devon Meadows, in probably one of the best prepared performances for the club, while the seconds, who competed in E grade, managed to thrash old enemy Merinda Park in a crushing outright defeat to also claim the victors’ title.
Later during the current cricket season (2015/16) the Upper Beaconsfield C.C. will hail the feats of their victorious teams who enshrined memorable achievements way back then. The opportunity exists to make the event another highlight in the traditions of the UBCC. Further information will be published as time rolls on.
From Little Things Big Things Grow
Saturday Dec 6 2014 marked the day of a pleasant Sponsors and Life Members afternoon. However, a significant announcement was made as the new partnership between the Cardinia Beaconhills Golf Club and the UBCC Maroons was launched. Golf Club Manager Fiza Errington was present to proudly initiate this relationship. The two clubs have agreed to cooperate and mutually work to benefit each other – particularly promoting the various programs that either club has on their calendar. “We both want to share communications with the membership of both groups. Each organisation has developed a strategic plan to better engage with the Upper Beaconsfield community so we will cooperate to enhance our activities,” according to Fiza Errington. The Golf Club has two golf activities – Foot Golf and 20/20 Golf while the cricket club is keen to promote Female Participation as well as welcoming members of the Upper Beaconsfield community to enjoy its facilities. Upper Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve Secretary Nicky Fabien (pictured with Fiza) appreciated the chance to network with Fiza on behalf of the Cricket Club and the UBRRC. Hopefully this will be a partnership that develops quickly.
Celebrating Our Foundations - January 31 2015
It has been missing for a couple of seasons but the monthly newsletter is back. In an attempt to keep all our members and supporters up to date with all the goings on around the club the UBCC committee have brought back the newsletter. The newsletter will give details of what is happening around the place while also giving a insite to people that make our club great. You can view all the current newsletters here.
Milo T20 Blast
Upper Beaconsfield CC will be running the Milo T20 Blast program this season for any kids interested in getting involved. The program starts
on Monday November 10th and we would love to see as many youngsters and their parents as possible. Come down, get involved and have a BLAST!!!
MILO T20 Blast is super fun, social, safe, active and best of all its cricket and it's a blast!
The 8 week program gives girls and boys the opportunity to play fun games of cricket in an active and social setting, conducted at local clubs and community centres across Australia.
It's much shorter than traditional cricket, all games lasting no more than 90 minutes.
Games are played at the same venure each week and every child gets an equal turn regardless of ability, including a change to bat, bowl and field, thus getting the opportunity to experience all aspects of cricket.
All the equipment is supplied, so parents are not required to bring anything each weeks.
The matches are played on a smaller field allowing parents to get close to all the action and with several games taking place on the same oval at the same time it creates an action packed fun atmosphere where every kid is involved.
The kids get the opportunity to play games of T20 cricket, whilst developing fundamental movement skills, social skills and team values.
Instead of sitting waiting to bat, the children take part in a Skills Zone, where games and activities help them develop vital cricket skills. Its an exciting atmosphere, complete with music and dancing just like the KFC Big Bash League.
The program is professionally delivered and it's aligned with the KFC T20 Big Bash League, so there are opportunities to take part in at-match activities.

Brad Hodge Visits UBCC
On the cusp of just having been selected to tour to Bangladesh for the World T20 Cup, Brad Hodge just happened to drop in to Upper Beaconsfield. He was ostensibly
attending a dinner at the home of sister in law Karen and Shaun Williams. However he did promise nephew Kobi (Williams) a little help in the nets at Upper Beaconsfield
along with Kobi’s U11 team mates. The Master Blaster had arrived at the home of the Maroons.
Luke Williams, coach of the U11’s Maroons, organised the whole affair. "Kobi has developed a lovely straight bat as a result of expert tuition from Uncle Brad," admitted Luke. So when the Hodges were coming to visit brother Shaun and Karen, Brad agreed to drop in at U11 training. "It all happened by coincidence with the T20 announcements. Brad’s phone went viral too."
Probably the best batsman in the history of Victoria’s Sheffield Shield team, Brad Hodge is recognised as just about the world’s top T20 batsman. Imagine how the kids at Upper Beaconsfield reacted. They were all tickled pink. Great coup Big Wig!! UBCC is ecstatic that Bradley John Hodge was able to spend time at our little cricket club.
The UBCC has been using TeamApp for a little while now and would like everyone to get on board with it. TeamApp is a free App available from the App store or
Google Play, depending on which phone you have, and is now also available as a website for those who wish to view it that way.
The UBCC has been using the app to keep everyone up to date with the current goings on, team selection, upcoming events and anything the may impact on players. It is a great resource and makes running and organising the club a whole lot easier. Download the App today and start see the benefits it can.
